In rare cases, bronchial fossa can occur together with a genetic syndrome and many other problems associated with this syndrome.
A newborn with such a congenital anomaly will be carefully examined to see if the hole will pose an additional risk.

Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome is a condition that usually manifests itself with asymmetrical earlobes and an unusually large tongue. They should be diagnosed immediately, as it is known that this syndrome can cause abnormalities in the abdomen and kidney and liver cancer.
